cats and dogs living together....

.... flying pigs orbiting the house, ice skating in hell, etc...

My wife now has an Eve account.

Well this is not exactly the blog I was expecting to be finding myself writing.. I had planned at some point to write a blog on the fact I was again playing wow, and that it was with my wife.

I was planning to talk about some of the interesting comparisons between the two games, and in particular how that wow was much more new player friendly
...... and then she goes and decides to give eve a go after all.

Now, it's still early days (i.e. we're talking less than 24 hours), but it is interesting to see how the tutorial is compared to when I last went through it.

There is no question it is 100% more user friendly than when I did it, but it is still needing a bit more polish. I found myself several times leaning over to suggest smarter ways of doing certain tasks, ways that to me should have been being pointed out in the tutorial.

However despite this, the focus on introducing professions (the point she has reached due to only a short stint so far) is good to see. Eve has so many paths that it is vital the newer players are given a bit more of a heads up for what is possible.

The inclination of myself and the other individual that has strongly suggested she give it a go, is that she will go down the industrial path. However just as likely she could choose a mission running path, or trading, or.....

That is what truly special about eve, the fact that any person can choose any path, at any point in their game career. Be it a year or a single day after starting the game.

I'm trying to not over suggest any path, instead just (together with a mutual friend) contributing some isk to her starting fund, so no matter what she picks she hit the road running.

My wife joined me on Eve about 2 months ago and can now fly a hulk but is currently working towards a freighter. The corp we were in had a major row so we split and started our own, better as she doesnt like being told what to do...

Before she started it was "are you coming off there tonight" and now its "are you coming on?" lol

She gets disheartened as I've been playing for over a year and can solo level 4's but she cant... dur!

Good to hear another persons's perspective..

My wife does seem to be enjoying the game, though luckily having also played wow, it has given her a bit of a head start.

She's still deciding what she wants to do, but is looking highly likely she will be choosing (at least in the short term) a life as an industrialist or mission runner.

But it's also interesting to see that the open nature of eve (compared to say Wow) is what is really drawing her in...

Interesting times.

Its nice to have a game to participate in with a partner. Although I am not following the path I would have done otherwise (0.0) I am still finding constructive destractions to keep me going. Funnily my wife is also going the industrial route. She is in charge of construction (still needs reminding to build stuff and moans when I do it :s ) Shes not mad keen on the fighting side although she can fly a Myrmidon and assist level 3's and 4's. She also moans that she hasnt earnt the ships she has been given even though shes ALWAYS mining usually when I'm at work so for me she doesnt owe anything.

With it being our own corp we decide where we want it to go and what we want to do so that helps her as she is very stubborn at times lol.

Interesting times indeed!

I'm predominately in 0.0 myself, but with some good friends, also have an empire corp, with some alts in it. So most likely my wife will be joining us in that corp.

I'm also thinking I may well drop one of my lower sp characters from the 0.0 corp, and use him to do stuff with my wife.

So far though, my wife seems to be going okay, and is picking up the concepts inherent to the game.

Will be interesting to see where she goes and does once into the game proper.

Geez, I wish I could get my wife to even try EVE. Not gonna happen though.

Well, it did take about 3.5 years, and involved getting her to try WOW first...

Wow is a gateway drug to the addiction that is MMOs.

Well my wife has just started a second account ... and the Lad has restarted his Eve account and now my daughter wants to learn (only 12... :O ) so it looks like she may be controling the new second character.

Our corp is fast becoming a real family affair!!!

@Rayne
My wife resisted for years of watching me play the X series games. She only showed any signs of any interest when I spoken to her about signing her son up to Eve. You just need something to spark her interest! We have 5 accounts between 3 of us and most are paid for by Plex so it keeps the cost down!
